The strongest increase belonged to Guyomar'ch Vietnam. Their concentrated feeds for pigs and chickens rose by VND 4.000/kg; mixed feed for piglets increased - 400 VND/kg; mixed feed for sows and pigs - 300 VND/kg; other foods increased by 200 VND/kg.

Mr. Nguyen Van Trong, Deputy Director of the Department of Livestock Production (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) said that the price of animal feed accounts for 75% of production costs. Therefore, when feed prices fluctuate, farmers will be directly affected.

“The reason behind this phenomenon is fluctuations in the world raw material market. Since the first price surge from the end of 2020 until now, the price of domestic animal feed has risen 7-8 times, or even 9 times (up from 30-40%) in some companies, while the price of livestock products decreased. Due to this adversity, numerous households are suffering from financial loss.

In order to cope with the current situation, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is proposing to put animal feed in the category of price stabilization items. If the proposal is approved by the Ministry,  livestock industry will be able to stabilize in the future.
